Hotel Information:

WESTIN HOTEL

Costume-Con 19 will be held at the Westin Hotel, a CAA/AAA Four Diamond Award-winning hotel in downtown Calgary. The hotel, at 320 - 4^th Ave. S.W., is within easy walking distance of several stores, restaurants and attractions. There are two restaurants and a lounge in the lobby area. The Westin is part of the Starwood Preferred Guest program.

Main building rooms have Queen, King, or one Double plus one Twin bed. The consuite will be on the top (17th) floor of the Main building. Tower rooms have a King bed or two Double beds, include a bathrobe, and have a slightly more upscale decor. The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and exercise area are on the top (20th) floor of the Tower. Executive Corner rooms are in the Main building, but have greater floor space than either of the other types of rooms. All rooms come equipped with hairdryer, iron and ironing board, two telephones, data ports, television with a Nintendo, and mini-bar with fridge. 90% of the rooms are non-smoking. Both elevator banks have equal access to the main function space.  If you are staying in the Main building and wish to visit the pool area without going through the lobby, you can access the other set of elevator banks by crossing a level below the main floor.

Hotel televisions are all on one system and cannot be hooked up to VCR’s brought in. There will be a television with a VCR in the consuite. Please use this one if you require the use of a VCR over the weekend.

Deadline: The above rates are available from Tuesday, May 22 to Thursday May 30. When you check in you will be asked to confirm your departure date. If you change your departure date after that time, they will also charge you a $25 Cdn. fee.

To receive the convention room rate, you must reserve your room by April 30th, 2001. Rooms reserved after that date may be charged at the Westin's walk-in rate, which starts at about $265 Cdn. for Main building rooms. To reserve your room please call one of the following numbers: In Calgary, call 403-266-1611. Outside Calgary you can reserve toll-free by calling 1-800-937-8461. This number is also good for outside North America. In either case, mention “Costume-Con 19” to receive the convention rate. Rooms must be reserved with a credit card, but no charge will be applied to your card until you check out.

Room Rates:

Children under the age of eighteen can stay with a parent for no extra charge. These rates are subject to a 5% Provincial Room Tax and a 7% federal Goods & Services Tax. The latter is refundable for visitors to Canada, if you apply when you leave the country (see Taxes).
