Single Pattern Contest

bulletWhat's it about?
bulletWhich pattern?
bulletWhen will the garments be show?
bulletHow do I participate?
bulletWhere do I get the pattern?
bulletAdditional wearable art contest - Ties!

What's it about?

The Single Pattern Contest is about imagination and wearable art.  Its sometimes serious, sometimes funny, sometimes amazingly detailed workmanship, sometimes quick inspiration with a bottle of glue, but always its inspiring.

Basically, the convention pick a pattern (or patterns).  Anyone can make up the pattern anyway they wish.  The final garment must at least recognizably resemble the original pattern.

There are no limits on:

bulletColors...
bulletAnything goes from subtle to rainbow from duotone to outrageous
bulletFabric...
bulletPast years have seem every fabric imaginable from shears to quilting, from wool to cotton, from nylon to linen
bulletIn fact it doesn't even have to be fabric!
bulletMore unusual construction materials have included screen, leather, plastics, and paper.
bulletKeeping the pattern pieces intact...
bulletNot required.
bulletLots more details and appliqué is always a great way to go on the pieces.
bulletQuilting up sections is great.
bullet... but as long as the final outfit is recognizable you can manipulate the pieces anyway you want.
bulletYour imagination is the limit....
bulletHaving said that... avoid any substance that might rub off or drip off on someone else... and of course anything truly living or flaming.

When will the garments be shown?

bulletThe garments will be shown during the Fashion Show segment of Costume Con 19.
bulletMultiple outfits may be submitted, but the rule is one outfit, one body.
bulletNote: this is at the same time the Future Fashion Show, so if you need extra bodies these can probably be found.
bulletContact the show's directors to let them know you'll need extra models

How do I participate?

bulletYou must be a member of Costume Con 19 to participate.
bulletThere are on-site memberships and supporting memberships.

Which patterns? & Where do I get the patterns?

"The Patchwork Puzzle Coat"

bulletBy  MacPhee Workshops: Pattern number #448.  It's an easy but versatile coat pattern. Or alternately, #449 with the Stained Glass Variation.
bulletNote #449 does not include the jacket pattern, only alternate forms for the blocks.
bulletE-mail: hmacphee@macpheeworkshop.com
bulletWeb: www.MacPheeWorkshop.com
bulletOn the MacPhee web site, the best way to locate the pattern is to go to their on-line catalog and directly do a search for pattern number #448.  (However, they've got a bunch of cool patterns, so browse around their catalog anyway.)

"Mixed Media"

bullet by Akasha Clothing (pattern #AB0006).
bulletWebsite: www.cadvision.com/akasha
bullet Email: akasha@cadvision.com

Both patterns can be purchased with either Canadian or US funds.
