The Los Angeles County Museum of Art presents a major retrospective
exploring the full range of Tim Burton's creative work, both as a film
director and as an artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer.
The exhibition brings together over 700 drawings, paintings, photographs,
moving-image works, storyboards, puppets, concept artworks, maquettes,
costumes, and cinematic ephemera, including art from a number of unrealized
and little-known personal projects. Many of these objects come from the
artist's own archive, as well as from studio archives and private
collections of Burton's collaborators.

The world's largest Lindy Hop dance camp. Classes, evening events.

Civil War reenactment groups from all over California who will spend
the weekend recreating one of the most important periods in American History.
This will be the largest reenactment ever held in this area. Visitors will have
a first hand look at the sights and sounds of battle as well as a chance at
involvement in living history presentations in the camps.

Stagecoach Day / Fall Festival - Los Encinos State Historic Park
Los Encinos State Historic Park in Encino will host "Stagecoach Day"
celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the start of scheduled stagecoach
service in California. An actual stagecoach with horses, traveling the
old Overland Mail route (Ventura Blvd) from Campo de Cahuenga in Universal
City to Los Encinos and then to the Leonis Adobe in Calabasas. It is
scheduled to arrive at Los Encinos around mid day. The program at Los
Encinos will feature two 19th Century style bands, Victorian dancing, a
blacksmith, a telegraph office, children's games, tours of the restored 1849
adobe and participants in authentic Victorian costume.
Pack a picnic and stay the day--admission is free. Old West attire is
encouraged (no weapons please)
Dance to the Big Band music of Dean Mora and his Orchestra while you dine at the
award winning Cicada restaurant. Dance the Lindy, Jitterbug, Foxtrot,

Visitors visit the village of Porta de Diego on the grounds of the Sheraton
Four Points. There be lots of merchants, food, grog and best of all, hell

Hosted in the lovely little town of Fawnskin, the event will showcase the
entire nineteenth century, including Victoriana, pioneers, the wild west,
old miners, loggers, and the American civil war. Come prepared to encounter
literary characters and authors, historical figures, shoot outs in the
streets, arrests and judgments from the "hangin' judge." There will be
period entertainment and games. The Loggers Jubilee competitions, featuring
everything from pole-climbing to tomahawk throwing to chainsaw events and
more, will be open to the general public.
While not all visitors come in costume, a great many do. The site will
be set up to cover both American Old West and English Victorian with
vendors and five stage's worth of entertainment of both as well as
performers
