The Academy recognizes legendary production executive Irving Thalberg
(1899-1936) with a major gallery exhibition featuring unpublished
photographs, enlightening documents, poster art, props and costumes from
motion pictures overseen by Hollywood’s original “Boy Wonder.” ... The
exhibition includes portraits by George Hurrell and Clarence Bull of many of
Thalberg’s stars.... Also on display will be costumes designed by Adrian and
set designs by Cedric Gibbons.
Join a vast array of
Victorian personalities from England and the far corners of the world. Dine on a
fabulous dinner & dessert buffet by Affairs of Elegance. Dance to the live music
brought to you by the Philadelphia Band & Promenade Orchestra.
This year's Ball celebrates Steampunk, a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative
fiction that denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still
widely used—usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England—but with
prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional
technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules
Verne.

LA Opera is opening its
overstuffed Costume Shop for its first ever costume sale, just in time for
Halloween. The Costume Studio’s storage racks are bursting at the seams, and
the company is selling more than 2500 costume pieces to create more room for
its ever-growing production repertoire. Pieces for sale will include
everything ranging from complete “merry peasant” and “medieval courtier”
costumes to individual pieces such as capes, hats, shoes and fans.
Highlights of the collection will include a number of “diva dresses,”
stunning hand-crafted gowns worn by LA Opera’s leading ladies.

Two days of auctions of movies costumes, props and memorabilia. Full
outfit for The Terminator, Freddy Kruger, Star Trek costumes from TOS to the
movie series, Planet of the Apes, Back to the Future, Headless Horseman.
Classics include Ben Hur, Jane Eyre, Gown With the Wind. Props
from Roswell, Star Wars, Transformers. Originals from Michael Jackson,
Harry Houdini, Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong, Gus Grissom, Roy Rogers
(Costumes on day 2.) The whole catalog may be downloaded from a pdf.
Premiere
Props will be hosting a live auction of horror-themed movie props,
including super hero costumes from classic horror movies. Rare costumes
and props from fan favorites including Halloween II, Resurrection & 6, Freddy
vs. Jason, Nightmare on Elm Street, Jeepers Creepers, Obsessed, My Bloody
Valentine, Midnight Meat, The Collector, Sorority Row and many more!
Proceeds will benefit the
Entertainment Industry Foundation.

The San Diego Costume Guild is holding its annual Swap and Sell Yard Sale.
Hey there all you Steampunkers! Here's your opportunity to get clothing and
accessories quickly and cheap! The San Diego Costume Guild is holding its annual
Swap and Sell Yard Sale. What kind of things will you find? Everything from full
costumes and vintage clothing covering Renaissance, Victorian, Antebellum,
Western, Edwardian and 20th Century periods, to accessories, jewelry and
books!
Last year, we had over 15 sellers, and you could buy suits for $10, vests for
$3, goggles for $5 and toy guns for $1!!
This event is a mix of Pirates and Steam Punk. Vendors, evening masquerade
dinner with a live performances with Abney
Park
During the day there's also the Pyro show.. The American Pride Tall
Ship will be broadsiding the Queen Mary. They're looking for

blanket to spread out, and enjoy an afternoon of food and fellowship with fellow
LOTR fans. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be bestowed upon the
most beautifully or most creatively attired lads and ladies. There will also be
fun and games, as usual, and maybe even the traditional impersonation contest.
There will be lots of wonderful prizes to be won.
Food: Pot-luck; please bring some picnic food to share (a bucket of fried
chicken, sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw, fruit, veggies & dip, etc.) or
soft-drinks,

jointly present the exhibition, showcasing a retrospective of television's
most memorable costume designs from the past and present. Featured will
be work from this year's Emmy nominations. |

A weekend of adventure, discovery, and fun await you at the Homestead
Museum's celebration of the Roaring Twenties! Celebrate the Roaring Twenties
as you enjoy music, dance demonstrations and lessons, crafts, vintage
automobiles, historic house tours, and tasty food during BOTH days of the
festival, and note some of the special performers and activities that differ
from day-to-day.
The Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society, Inc. and the Old Miners
Association are delighted to announce the 1800's Country Fair and Loggers
Jubilee at their permanent site on the north shore of Big Bear Lake!
Hosted in the lovely little town of Fawnskin, the event will showcase the
entire nineteenth century, including Victoriana, pioneers, the wild west,
old miners, loggers, and the American civil war. Come prepared to encounter
literary characters and authors, historical figures, shoot outs in the
streets, arrests and judgments from the "hangin' judge." There will be
period entertainment and games. The Loggers Jubilee competitions, featuring
everything from pole-climbing to tomahawk throwing to chainsaw events and
more, will be open to the general public.
While not all visitors come in costume, a great many do. The site will
be set up to cover both American Old West and English Victorian with
vendors and five stage's worth of entertainment of both as well as
performers

The exhibition examines the important aspects of costume design for color
films from the 1940s through the 1960s, and includes costumes from such
well-known films as "The Great Race" (1965), costume worn by Natalie Wood,
costume design by Edith Head and Donfeld; and "My Fair Lady" (1964), costume
worn by Audrey Hepburn, costume design by Cecil Beaton, who won Oscars® for both
Color Costume Design and Color Art Direction for the film. Reproductions
of costume design drawings from the holdings of the Academy’s Margaret Herrick
Library will also be on display.
How were crime and punishment handled in early Los Angeles? And how did
things change by the Roaring Twenties? Speak with living history characters
from the 1870s and 1920s to find out.
Hour-long tours are free, but reservations are recommended (space is limited
for each tour) and can be made starting February 14.

showcasing the year's most memorable costume designs from the movies of the
past year.. The Academy Award nominated costumes will be featured.
Forty years of imagination, artistry and meticulous craftsmanship that

largest collection of artifacts, sets and information ever put on public
display. A large array of exhibits, featuring sets, costumes, museum pieces
and props from all five Star Trek television series and ten Star
